The Forager’s Stays are my oldest and most beloved pattern. The pattern sizing has been updated to reflect some changes I have made for better fit and is also now scaled into two different size packs! As always, the pattern is formulated for chest sizes 32”-52”. One set of patterns has a -8” waist reduction for a curvy fit and the other has a -6” waist reduction for those who require a straighter fit! Perfect for first time stay makers.
The Folk Stays Pattern is based on extant 18th century Norwegian folk stays from museum collections. It features a 5 piece body with adjustable straps and rounded tabs which are bound in a contrasting fabric or leather. Unlike court style stays of the same period which prioritize stiff, straight bodies and small waists, these stays are copies of garments worn by the middle and working class and are designed for all-day wearability. Instructions detail how to easily customize your size.
VVitch Stays, my newest pattern, are based on several extant examples of stays with sleeves and stomachers from the mid- 1600’s. These fully boned stays are constructed from 3 body panels, a stomacher, and feature two part tie-on sleeves. The boning layout and beautifully placed tabs provide a structured and curvaceous silhouette.
All pattern instructions include directions for either modern or historical construction, making from leather, how to customize size and fit, as well as ideas on how to convert to a binder.
